Alex Gardner Free-For-All

SUMO recommends a visit to the the small but powerful exhibition Free-For-All by Los Angeles based artist Alex Gardner - his first solo show with König Galerie at the St. Agnes Chapel.

The exhibition consists of five striking figurative paintings that are illustrative yet abstractly composed. As you approach the works you will be captivated by the incredible movement and texture of each intentional brush stroke. The artists use of light and shadow are conveyed with simple yet strong transitions of colour, the crispest whites reflect hues of yellow, green and blue. The five figurative paintings draw attention to what happens in the dark; anonymous figures wrestle with each other, some appear to be seeking intimacy and another leans back and reflects.

The exhibition runs until August 29th 2021

König Galerie | St.Agnes, Alexandrinenstr. 118-121, 10969, Berlin

Open Tues-Sat 10am - 6pm & Sun 12pm - 6pm
