From Christian Dior’s Spring Summer 2004 collection by John Galliano. The collection drew on Marlene Dietrich and reinterpreted her image through contemporary references including Courtney Love and Patti Smith. The runway mixed 1940s-inspired tailoring with corsetry, lingerie details and sportswear influences.
This skirt was shown on the runway in a silver-grey colorway. It features a dramatic low V-shaped waist with layered and draped fabric gathered across the front, creating a sculptural, asymmetric silhouette. The construction gives the impression that the skirt has been reworked from elements of a jacket or pair of trousers.
The skirt falls to the knee and combines a fitted shape with exaggerated draping through the hips.
