From Prada’s Spring Summer 2012 collection by Miuccia Prada. Inspired by 1950s American car culture, the collection explored the relationship between women and automobiles, combining feminine silhouettes with references to classic Cadillacs, hot rods and pin-ups. Car prints, flame motifs, pastel colours and metallic finishes appeared throughout the collection, with the flame heels becoming one of its most recognisable designs.
These sandals feature a black patent leather base with layered red and yellow leather flames extending from the sides and back of the shoe. A multicoloured leather bow decorates the front, while the slender metallic stiletto heel references the chrome detailing of 1950s automobiles.
One of the most memorable accessories from Miuccia Prada’s Spring Summer 2012 collection, the Flame sandals were also featured in Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and are currently on view at the Pradasphere exhibition at the Prada Galeria in Milan.
