WHY WE LOVE IT
Hedi Slimane’s work often draws on a sense of nostalgia; references to music, youth culture and fragments of the past. For Spring Summer 2020, Slimane collaborated with New York based artist David Kramer, whose text-based works echo that same atmosphere. Kramer’s phrases were central to the collection, appearing on jackets and knits as a reflection of memory, longing and the idea of a past that may never have existed.
This satin varsity jacket is one of the key pieces from the season. Made from in a cream viscose-satin with striped ribbed trims, and raglan sleeves. The front remains minimal, while the back features Kramer’s artwork:
“I HAVE NOSTALGIA FOR THINGS I PROBABLY HAVE NEVER KNOWN.”
The combination of Slimane’s streamlined silhouette with Kramer’s text creates a piece that captures the mood of the collection; nostalgic, direct, and distinctly contemporary.
