For Chanel Fall Winter 2007 Haute Couture, Karl Lagerfeld built the entire collection around one idea: the body seen in profile. The idea was to push all movement, decoration, and energy to the sides of the silhouette. Vogue Runway described the concept as “high profile”.
Handmade in the Chanel Haute Couture Atelier, this one of a kind Haute Couture Runway dress reflects the collection’s focus on linear details and couture surface work. The sheer tulle base is detailed with hand-applied sequin motifs, creating a puzzle-like design that catches light with movement. The dress is constructed with three layers; a silk pink lining, with a layer of grey-blue silk and the outer tulle with embroidered sequin. The soft blush panel at the front is a concealed internal waistband, built inside the dress to hold the silhouette on the body.
