WHY WE LOVE IT
From Christian Dior’s Spring Summer 2010 collection by John Galliano. The collection was inspired by the femme fatale of 1940s film noir, with echoes of Lauren Bacall walking the runway.
This piece is an original showroom sample, which is likely a unique piece. Produced in Italy for Dior’s press showroom, it represents the highest level of prêt-à-porter craftsmanship. Made from couture-level fluid gold lamé, the top features soft pleating gathered into a sculptural knot at the neckline. The metallic surface catches light with movement, creating a liquid shimmer. It fastens with a concealed zipper at the back.
A very rare piece from Galliano’s Dior years, reflecting his ability to translate old Hollywood glamour into modern couture.
