WHY WE LOVE IT
John Galliano made fashion history when he became creative director of Givenchy in 1995. He was the first British designer to helm a major french couture fashion house. Galliano was at Givenchy for only one year (1995-1996), and produced two couture collections and two ready to wear collections, which paved the way for his appointment as the creative director at Dior.
This very rare Givenchy bow suit is from John Galliano’s Fall Winter 1996 collection which featured several styles with bow details. The jacket silhouette takes its inspiration from a matador jacket - featuring long sleeves, structured shoulders, an open front with two bows on the chest. The bow details are an early Galliano signature, a motif he also explored in his own label’s collections. The matching pencil skirt falls right above the knee.
This Givenchy by John Galliano Tweed Bow Suit is an important rare vintage piece that will continue to increase in value.
